This insider-led investment included participation from Anzu Partners, Energy Impact Partners, LaunchCapital, Material Impact, and Volta Energy Technologies. This amount represents the first close of the Series E round, with a second close anticipated in late fall 2024.
6K is a leader in the sustainable production of engineered materials for lithium-ion batteries and additive manufacturing. The company utilizes its proprietary UniMelt® microwave plasma technology for the localized production of critical materials. The new funds will be used to scale up production for battery cathode active materials (CAM) and expand the processing of 3D printable metal powders. This includes scaling production at its PlusCAM™ battery material plant currently under construction in Jackson, TN, and supporting its 6K Energy Battery Center of Excellence in North Andover, MA.
