Brineworks, an Amsterdam-based startup, secured $2.2 million (approximately €2 million) in a funding round led by venture capital firm Pale Blue Dot. This investment is aimed at advancing the company's technical development and deploying its first technical pilot project.
Brineworks specializes in seawater electrolysis technology designed to sustainably and affordably extract carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen (H2) from the ocean. This direct ocean capture (DOC) technology is intended to support large-scale e-fuel production and contribute to the decarbonization of industries such as maritime and aviation. The company's electrolyser aims to provide a clean, decentralized, and self-sufficient energy solution.
